Our daughter met a man on a popular dating site, made a date with him for lunch at a busy near-by restaurant, and they had an ok time. He said he was 'on call' for radiologist at a near-by hospital, had a van with equipment of that sort and seemed to be what he says that he is.

The twist to this is that he is white and she is black. He told her that he ''hates white girls'' and gave lame reasons that of course apply to many but far from all, and well - - I have misgivings about this man. He is 29, he says, and she in only 22 and naive. I have misgivings about the statement this man is making with a shaved head and lots of body tattoos. What are your opinions ?
In my experience, men who have many body tattoos and shaved heads belong to extreme groups who have political and racial focus and are anti-everything.

We all dress and fashion ourselves to make some statement about ourselves. I have mis-givings about this guy and so does her dad.

I don't understand how your daughter can be black if you are Japanese, was she adopted?

Yes, people who shave their heads and have tattoos and say that they hate a huge group of people - which they themselves come from - are people with big problems. They are so driven by those problems that it has manifested itself in a type of self-abuse - the cutting of hair and the dying of skin with needles. It has violent overtones. Saying that you hate 'white girls' if your mother is white means that he is emotionally damaged and has not the mental ability to work through his issues, and cannot realize that just because one or two white women may have upset him in the past, the rest necessarily will. Plus it also makes you realize that he unrealistically idealizes non-white women, which is equally unbalanced and illogical when you talk about women in general. They are all individuals and human beings. I would guess he has strong views as to what women 'should' be like which is probably very narrow, and you can bet it involves being subservient to him, as he's tried to make himself appear very butch and manly. I think he is very screwed up, and probably not a good match for any woman.

Twenty years ago, I believed that people who received tattoos, body piercings, and shaved heads were people who actually needed their heads EXAMINED! A lot of them WERE fanatics of some sort...but as it became more and more "fashionable" and even "acceptable", my opinions began to change. Two years ago, as my Mother was in the final stages of Alzheimer's disease, I had my favorite piece of artwork largely tattooed on my upper left arm. I am an Atheist...but my favorite work of art is the part of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel fresco that shows the hand of God reaching out to Adam. Both hands are now a cherished part of me in my Mother's memory. (Mom was a very devout Catholic, by the way). Some day I may have something else tattooed on my upper right arm...but it will also have to have a great deal of meaning in my life!

By the way...before Mom actually died, I received a small tattoo of the Comedy/Tragedy Masks, because of my love for the theatre. AND I also received two earlobe piercings, one with a diamond, and one with a green garnet...I THINK it's because I wanted to feel some kind of pain, because my Mom didn't deserve what was thrust upon her at the end of her life! I'm not a bad person...and I don't think I'm crazy! But I do like what I ended up doing, when all was said and done.

This "friend" of your daughter doesn't sound like a prizewinning son-in-law prospect...perhaps in the spirit of the love you have for your daughter, you could give him another chance? Who knows? Maybe he'll redeem himself somehow...or maybe he'll put his foot in his mouth again, leading your daughter to believe that she deserves better! We all deserve to love and to be loved. No matter how many mistakes your daughter makes, it won't make you love her any less now, will it?! I wish you all the best for your family's future!

You should be reminded, tattoos are kind of permanent. So, what to do when following a stereotypical crowd and then grows up to be an adult and believe in a different outlook on life. Hair falls out so might as well shave head, common practice of all groups now a days. "A man should be judged by his vocation in life as it is an example of his worth." (fitting Japanese proverb)

None.Stop generalizing!Your experience is obviously limited and prejudicial.

Ask yourself a couple of easy questions.

1.Have I raised a daughter capable of thinking for herself?Hopefully the answer is yes.

2.Does your daughter genuinely like the young man?

Tell her to find her own heart and then get out of her way.At 22 she needs to love and live for herself.Your misgivings are your problem,DON'T make them hers! And a gentle reminder-Were all four of your and your husbands parents happy with your choices?Again-right or wrong your daughter needs to make her own choices. If you've denied her that right then shame on you.

tbh it's not about hair or lack of it's about attitude. my husband started loosing his hair about your age - as there got less of it he cut it shorter and now shaves it - no messing about - no silly treatments, no problem. For a while it made him look older than he was, but women like older men so that's no problem! Have you ever noticed your elbows bald? does it make any difference to whether you get a girl or not? Try and have the same attitude about your head. Some women like really hairy men, some women like their men all smooth and buffed, there will be women who don't like bald men, but also women who won't like short/tall dark/blonde etc etc etc... One thing all women like...is a man who's comfy in himself. Embrace it.

HERE GOES - BALD HEADS, TATTOOS, DEFINE SOME GROUPS - - -

White power skinheads are a white supremacist and anti-semitic offshoot of the skinhead subculture.[1][2][3][4] Many of them are affiliated with white nationalist organizations.

The original skinhead subculture started in the late 1960s, and had heavy British mod and Jamaican rude boy influences — including an appreciation for ska, early reggae and soul music.[5][6][7][8] The identity of skinheads in the 1960s was neither based on white power nor neo-Nazism, but some skinheads (including black skinheads) had engaged in "gay-bashing", "hippy-bashing" and/or "Paki bashing" (violence against random Pakistanis and other Asian immigrants).[9][10]

The original skinhead scene had mostly died out by 1972, and a late-1970s revival came partly as a backlash against the commercialization of punk rock. This revival coincided with the development of the 2 Tone and Oi! music genres.[7][11][12][13] The skinhead revival in Britain included a sizeable white nationalist faction, involving organizations such as the National Front, British Movement, Rock Against Communism and later Blood and Honour. Because of this, the mainstream media began to label the whole skinhead identity as neo-Nazi.

The racist subculture eventually spread to North America, Europe and other areas of the world. Groups soon emerged, such as the Hammerskins, and racist skinheads gained acceptance among other organized hate groups such as Church of the Creator, White Aryan Resistance and the Ku Klux Klan.[14][15][16] In 1988, there were approximately 2,000 neo-Nazi skinheads in the US.[17] The majority of American white power skinhead groups are organized either at the state, county, city or neighborhood level; the Hammerskin Nation (HSN) is one of the few exceptions, due to its international presence.[18] According to a 2007 report by the Anti-Defamation League, groups such as white power skinheads, neo-Nazis, and the Ku Klux Klan, have been growing more active in the United States in recent years, with a particular focus on opposing non-white immigration, specifically from Mexico.[2]

White power skinheads, (and non-racist skinheads), are known for wearing Dr. Martens or combat-style boots, flight jackets, jeans and suspenders (also known as braces). In contrast to the mod-influenced Trojan skinheads, white power skinheads tend to wear higher boots (often with white shoelaces, although in many locales white laces indicate that the wearer is non-racist, traditional skinhead or anti-racist skinhead), T-shirts instead of button-up shirts, and army trousers or jeans instead of Sta-Prest trousers. They usually crop their hair shorter than the 1960s-style skinheads; often to grade 0 length or shaved off completely with a razor. White power skinheads generally have more tattoos than the skinheads of the 1960s, and these tattoos often feature explicitly racist content. Some wear badges, chains or rings featuring Nazi or white power emblems.[19][20] In Germany and The Netherlands, the Lonsdale clothing brand has been popular among some neo-Nazi skinheads (although Lonsdale brand has been very popular with non-racist skinheads for decades). This is partly because the four middle letters of Lonsdale, NSDA, are almost the same as the abbreviation of Adolf Hitler's political party, the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP).[21] Punk-influenced Oi! skinheads also dress in a similar fashion as white power skinheads, minus the racist or neo-Nazi symbols.

**** The fact that this guy is trying only to date black girls is also something that stands out - why ? If he really rejects all white girls - why ?

Something is WAY out of WACK here with this situation in my opinion. It makes no good sense, and why is a black girl even bothering with some white bald guy who says he doesn't like girls of his own race ?????

It is not good to judge people based on how they look. But to judge them based on their character. Looks only go skin deep.
