I was just thinking as I flipped through my text book and came across a written assignment, if that would really be all that common in the next few years. Even though I was using a textbook, and had a paper assignment tucked into it, I had far more work completed on the computer in front of me.

Then I also started thinking, I really like the feeling of writing on paper, different feelings and expressions occur for me when I have a pen or pencil.

Of course paper will never go away because of things like drawing and painting, but what do you think about newspapers? Textbooks? Class notes and assignments?

I personally believe everything is headed for the computer screen.

No. Books will become more of a status, decorative expression, but will be around for centuries. Homes will have books in them as we have fireplaces or big clocks today. We do not need a fireplace anymore, or a big clock, but they sure look beautiful. They should both have disappeared decades ago, yet they still are hanging strong.

Additionally, they most certainly come in handy when the electricity goes out: fire and paper do not require power.

Paper will never cease to exist for one simple reason. Computers crash...programming is lost.Today everything on a computer is backed up by hard copy. Unless a way is discovered to prevent data from being lost paper is king.

You're probably right. I don't think paper will be obsolete but everything is done or put on the computer now.
