I have recently heard the world population is 7 billion. Perhaps it is even more now. I am wondering if you feel the world is in danger of not having enough resources to handle the population. I once read something someone wrote on the Internet that said that world population is caused by people living longer, and they didn't talk about people who have endless children. What is your opinion on this? How important is sustainability in regards to this? I feel frustrated about people having endless children.

I think this is a very delicate subject. We obviously can't just kill a bunch of people to bring the population down. I do, however, think that parents should know their limits and not have as many children as they possibly can. It's absolutely rediculous how some people have like 10 or 15 kids..

Regarding the whole food issue, I think it'll just get worse in the future. There are some people in third-world countries who eat a handful of rice per day and use less than a gallon of water per day. So yes, I do think our world is overpopulated, but I don't see a definite way of keeping the population stable.

Yes, very! The global is overpopulated and even though a lot of the Earth is unpopulated it's ordinarily in land that cannot help populations for the reason that of the loss of water, meals or assets. New insurance policies do have to be enacted all over the world comparable to the only youngster coverage. Also we have to instruct folks and provide possibility so they're going to now not be pressured to are living a lifetime of subsitence farming. These folks customarily have many kids for the reason that extra kids = extra employees within the fields = greater yield.

The world right at this moment is probably nearing the point of being overpopulated but the process is occurring more on a regional basis rather than globally. Placs like canada are underpopulated because there are far less people then resources. bangladesh on the other hand is over populated with far too many people living in close quarters with a lack of resources to cope with the strain of growing population.

The world itself has a point called the carrying capacity which is basically the max population the earth can handle relative to resources. Beyond this point there are several theories as to what will happen to the human population including a total crash but that is unlikely. We may actually never reach carrying capacity because in fact several countries are entering a new phase whereby there pop.s are decreasing e.g italy, germany.

Each country is in its on phase in terms of birth and death rates which influence population. People in underdeveloped countries tend to have larger famalie sdue to lack of contraception, family planning knowledge ect. but as the reach new development phases the birth rates are likely to decrease along with death rates as has been seen in the developed world. Personally I think people should be allowed as many children as they like, chinas one child policy is an example of government trying to manage growing populations. What needs to be done is contraception and family planning need to be part of education in undeveloped countries.

What you read is true. The increase in world population is due mostly to our increased life span. In the past, most people didn't live much past 50 and many children died as infants or toddlers. Now, with the advances we've made in medicine and technology, the average life expectancy is 78 years and the infant mortality rate is down to 6.5 per 1,000 live births.

As far as the "endless children" go, I have only seen this in a few circles. Most people these days are having fewer children than in past generations.

they say if we can propotioniate it right that earth can handle up to 14 billion people, now I think thats bullshit but maybe 10 billion isn't all that sketchy. BUt that number is correct 7 billion people documented on this tiny planet, holy ****.

If we don't reduce the pop, we will die as a species. now keep in mind there is about 600 trillion billion ants, but since they are very tiny the earth could support 10 times that number of ants. we are large, we take up a signifigant amount of space, we eat a lot, we destroy more. so earth can't even handle 1 trilion of us mosters

I don't believe in the liberal myth of overpopulation, except when it pertains to actually having too many liberals.

I also don't believe in Gore's Warming or The Monkey Story.
