no i completly dont that what caused my wreck some girl on the phone talking DIDNT TRY TO STOP tboned me my car flipped i broke three ribs and i got a fractured pelvis..



she got a dislodged knee.



shes the one who got the ticket.

talking on a phone distracts you and effects how you do things plus stay off the phone and you can avoid a ticket however i do think that having a blue tooth or a head seat or putting your phone on speaker seem more reasonable

It is just another distraction you need to handle. If you have an urgent call ("I am lost and don't know where the turn off road is") and the traffic isn't bad then you should be able to deal with it.



Cell phones get their bad reputation from clueless people who pass through intersections and merging traffic without looking because they are wrapped up in conversations and just blissed out by the joy of chattering. If they had an accident it would be a complete surprise to them.



This Black Friday, I was driving along on a narrow parking lot road near Circuit City. It was a two lane "no parking either side" road with shopper's cars parked on both sides. That left just about enough room for two-way traffic to carefully squeeze past the parked cars. Sure enough a lot of those cars driving along had cellphone conversers in them, probably calling someone to tell how great their day was going because they scored some real bargain at the store. Several came within inches of ripping off their side view mirrors and those on the other cars as they chatted their way up or down the road. I bet that kind of accident would have taken a lot of the shine off their morning.

I saw some young chick texting the other day at night in her car. how about that? If u got to use the phone make it quick and get off. Many people have lengthy involved conversations on the phone and weave from one lane to the next. Totally oblivous to what they are doing. They cant drive much less talk too. People are crazy!! The people who say otherwise and use other examples are in a big time denial....

No. I don't care what anyone says, it's dangerous. I have come so close to being sideswiped, t-boned, run into while waiting at a light by someone turning left, by some idiot talking on the phone, in the past year, than all the close calls combined in my previous 30 years of driving.

Driving while using a hand held cell phone causes accidents. The hands free types are much better, but safest of all is to stop the car before using the phone.

Yes if you do it responsibly. Problem is many people are not responsible and this goes for other things like smoking, eating, drinking (non-alcoholic beverages), listening to music, and talking to others in the car. Of course people do things that they really shouldn't like putting on makeup, reading the paper, answering email, text messaging, drinking alcohol and many other inappropriate things.



If you ban using cell phones you need to ban all activities that could be a distraction while driving.

I think its less dangerous than those people who have to look you in the eye when they're talking to you while driving.

no; mainly because, from personal experience, the driver using a cell phone isn't aware of the other drivers on the road, therefore he/she is setting up a perfect disaster.

Sure, why not? People who think it's dangerous should also outlaw eating while driving, listening to music/radio, driving friends/children around, talking to people in the backseat, etc.



Most things are dangerous while driving, but if you keep your eyes and mind on the road, they can all be overcome.
