The reasons why so much people don't like USA?

I'm not from USA, i'm French but i've traveled a lot there the past years for my job and even lived in USA the last 2 years (for my job, not by choice).
I've met looooot of people there and i've heard many time this question: "why you, foreigners, have such a bad opinion of USA and Americans". Well, it's simple and i think most of non americans will share this thoughts (even if, obviosuly, not all of US Americans are what i describe, but huuuuuuuuge majority is - honestly like 92-95% of people i've met...and i've met a lot, which is quite representative)


1. They think that USA is the center of the world.

2. They are very arrogant. USA this, USA that

3. They are ignorant. Most of them don't know anything about anything except USA. They care just about themselves. World news, world problems, ecology? None of their concerns.

3. They are so annoying with their religion "jesus this, jesus that". Do you know any other country so annoying with its religion? Live your religion and shut up, seriously. Other people from other countries and/or religions don't annoye you with religion in every phrases. I've Been to Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, most of europe, Mexico etc. and never ever i've heard people be annoying with their religion.

4. They call USA "America". America is a continent! you are as Americans as Mexicans or Colombians are. After so many decades, how can you still make this mistake?

5. They eat in one meal what any other person from an other country eat in 5-6 meals (or worst) and then don't understand why they are so fat. Fast Food is the second religion there. Impossible to make them understand that they are fat and should work out or be careful to what they eat, they don't want to hear anything and take very bad any thing you could tell them.

6. Gun lobby. One of the most supposed civilized country use weapons freely and is happy about that. USA is as civilized as a country in civil war for this reason, in my opinion.

7. They love making war, it's so fun as they try to make believe to young people to enrole them.

8. They are so patriotic that it becomes pathetic. Even more than patriot, they are nationalist (thinking that other countries are inferior).

9. They are racist against black and latinos or other people than "native americans" and against immigration. Which is so funny knowing that 99,5% of them come originally from immigration (from Polant, Italy, Ireland, France...). But don't expect them to know that (see 3.)

10. How could they elect 2 times in a row Bush. Really? Really??????

11. They main nation of porn is so puritan that it had become ridiculous.

12. A nation of freedom that bip every bad word on TV show. Right....it's logical. Holding a gun is ok, but bad words on TV nooooo.

13. They complain about Mexico and that it's too dangerous....but most of USA cities are more dangerous than Mexicans cities (lived in Mexico for 5 years, so i know what i'm talking about too). And don't expect them to understand that if it's dangerous it's mainly because of them. Yeah, Mexico is dangerous because of drugs cartel. And hwo is the main consumer of Mexican (or latina) drug? Yep, USA baby! You make Mexico dangerous, it's time to realize that.

14. They care more about their cars (viva pollution) than people. Where are the sidewalks? Where are the trees on the sidewalks? D they think about pedestrians? There, if you don't have a car, you are nothing. Roads are 10 times the size of sidewalks.

15. They sew for any f******** reason. It's so ridiculous. A hot coffee that burn your tongue, they sew. Someone who shake your hand to say hello, they sew you. You beat someone who was disrespectful to your wife, they sew you. That's so ridiculous and weird. The worst is that it really works! They win money with that!

16. Personal one: they think we owe them for helping us during world war, thinking that without them, we wouldn't be here. Open a book, and learn history. USA as it is now exists because of France. You can thanks Lafayette and thanks France for giving you so much territory that belonged to France at first (all east of USA). And for the west part of USA it belonged to Mexico. (but well, see 3.)

17. Fake smiles on everybodys face. You never know what they really think.

18. Even a third world country has a best health care system than USA.

I Decided few days ago to quit my job, can't bare anymore to live in USA. I'm going to Mexico, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia or France, i don't know yet, but it will be so much better.
Thank to the 7-8 US Americans that were not the typical US Americans as i described (they only one i'm still friends with)

LOL!!!! Haha when I read this I laughed so hard!! why? because so much of that is true!!!



I'm from Canada and study in the States. I get those comments all the time from people back home, pen pals from different contries, comments like "how can you stand to be around Americans..they're (this) (that) or the other".."they're fat, dumb, have terrible education/health care, they're racist, prejudiced" etc.



Yes some of those stereotypes are true but they don't apply to all Americans I've met. Actually, a lot of Americans know all these stereotypes and even admit to them! And some of them feel this way haha. But despite this, a lot of Americans I've met are very nice, friendly, kind people. They have flaws but don't we all? Some of the Americans I've met with are some of my best friends, and some of them are so funny!



It's hard to not stereotype but try not to! Maybe then after that, you'll see the good parts!

Here are some facts to your comments.



1. No that is not true. Most non-US Citizens do not know the USA. In short, a lot of Europeans and Asians really do not know the USA for what it really is. To get a better perspective of America, you have to read up on US history and government (very lengthy), live there for at least 20 years, and visit at least 20 states.



2. No that is not true. There are Americans that are loud, rude, abrasive, ignorant, stupid, condescending, and egotistical but that is a small percentage of the American population. The same can be said for Europe and Asia.



3. They are ignorant - no that is not true. See Number 2.



4. This is true to some degree. However, it is changing just like Europe and Asia.



5. True. However, America is not a continent. It is North America and

South America, which are two continents. The terms "America and America" are idiomatic expressions that evolved to what it is now. Plus, it is easier to use the term "Americans" instead of US Citizen.



6. It varies but the USA is not the fattest nation. Fast food is NOT the second religion in The USA. A lot of fat Americans do understand that they are fat, have to work out, and be careful to what they eat. No fat person wants to hear they are fact. However, Europeans and Asians have their fair share fat people, even though it is smaller than the USA, it is climbing.



7. You really need to read the hard facts and not rely on your opinion. Here are some facts:



a. Most Americans do not own guns and do not like guns.



b. Almost all gun murders are committed by criminals, crazy people, and people who are born evil. They got these guns illegally or stole them.



c. There is nothing wrong with the US gun laws. They are valid, justified, and practical. The only real thing that is lacking is proper regulation (that includes full background checks, proper training, law enforcement, permit, etc.).



8. This is definitely not true. The US military recruits young Americans for military service just like in France, the UK, and few other Europeans countries. The military is a necessary evil for ALL countries. You need to use very hard facts when you say Americans love to make war and not opinions



9. Not true. There is nothing wrong with being patriotic and ALL nations should be patriotic. Patriotism is NOT the same as nationalism. Real Americans do not think other countries are inferior.



10. You need to do a lot of research before you make this statement. The USA does have its fair share of prejudice people just like in Europe and Asia. Plus, there is nothing wrong with any nation being xenophobic. All nations have the right to close their borders if they want to. Being against immigration is not a form of hate. Japan is xenophobic and nobody complains about them. The French and British do have prejudice people against the Muslim immigrants.



11. Because they have the right to. How can Americans elect Obama twice in a row? Bush is not responsible for everything going wrong in the world. Why do Europeans and Asians allow their central banks control their governments?



12. Not true. Most Americans were never puritan and real Americans know this. In fact, there are now history and news shows that are exposing this hypocrisy.



13. Reread Numbers 1 and 6.



14. Mexico has more corrupted government officials and a higher poverty rate, which gives way to higher organized crimes and illegal immigration. The USA did not create this problem but its private sector and drug users (most Americans are not drug users) did exacerbate this problem. If Mexico shared the same borders with France then the French would eventually complain about Mexico.



15. True to some degree. The USA is a large country and did not evolve the way Europe did . Most Americans cities originated and expanded when the automobile was available, which Europe did not. However, the USA is changing its attitude towards cars.



16. This is true and it varies across the USA. But it is not a super hot problem. Most cases are thrown out of court, if they do make to trial.



17. Hmm...where do I begin? Well most Americans do know history. Yes, France did help the 13 original free and independent states but the USA did help France in WWI and WWII. And North America belonged to the Native Americans and was later invaded/stolen by the Spanish, French, and English.



18. Not entirely true. But there is nothing wrong with smiling when you are being polite.



19. No, not really. The majority of the poor do not get the medical attention when they really need it.

Ok I'm From the United States!! And I am veryyyyyy Proud of My country...You are just being very ignorant jealous and hateful!! The United States is a very very amazing country were like one big family and yes..we are very serious when it comes to Religion we go to church every Sunday and many other days to thank god and jesus for everything they give us Life family Love etc And yes we helped you during world war and without us you guys would've been toast!! We are one of the most productive countries and The usa is the Leader of the world we aren't always trying to start wars in fact we don't start wars at all unless another country messes with us or attacks us first then we go to war we actually try to prevent wars and we don't really like being in wars but the rest of the world is just sooo jealous of us and hates us so they try to overthrow us but we are tooo strong for that no one is really more powerful than us Mexico isn't Canada isn't FRANCE ISNT Spain isn't Japan isn't Germany Isn't Italy Isn't Poland isn't Africa isn't Ireland Isn't in fact the China isn't either but they are close The United States is a somewhat large and well put together country and We are very Proud and Grateful Of our Country and wouldn't ask for anything better!! The handiest factors why men and women transfer to the U.S. is a million) Obama and a couple of) medical professionals and firms make more cash there. Otherwise, I haven't any proposal why they might move. Canada is purifier, more secure, much less crowded, and no more hated at the international scale.

This sort of attitude is hardly surprising when you consider that their population is descended from Europe's rejects. The founders of their country are the most stupid and the most religious from Europe so they have inferior DNA and low intelligence. Even their dictionaries are badly misspelt.



If Yellowstone explodes and destroys the USA it'll be well worth living through the environmental catastrophe to be rid of those idiotic bible bashing warmongerers, the world will be a much safer place as a result.



Not all of them are that stupid but the majority obviously are.
