Would you find this statement offensive, even if it is true?

This girl from my school who graduated last year just passed away in a car accident. I didn't know her so I decided to take a look at her Facebook page. Her last status update read "Have to be a special kind of stupid to be driving in the wrong lane ***** is lucky i love my car almost hit her. ATTENTION STUPID PEOPLE YES IM TALKING TO YOU IF YOU CANT DRIVE IN THE RIGHT DAMN LANE DONT DRIVE AT ALL. BECAUSE HELL WILL BE PAID IF I TOTAL MY CAR BC OF YOU!!!!"

Afterwards, I updated my status saying "I find it ironic that (girl's name)'s last status was about nearly crashing her car."

I don't see how this is offensive...only one girl yelled at me that it was, and she didn't know the girl either.

Someone may mistake you finding it ironic, for you finding it funny. Which would explain how it may be offensive, since what happened isn't funny.

Yeah that's offensive. She died in a car accident. Do you not have feelings? Like I'm sure so many people are hurt that she passed away and all you can do is crack a joke about a dead girl. That's very VERY offensive.

It's horrendously insensitive, uncalled for and even less necessary. The best thing anyone could say about it is that it is in poor taste.



Did it never occur to you that people that loved her might read that ugliness? Keep it to yourself next time. Or at least only say it to someone (verbally) that you're sure doesn't know the victim.

I don't think it was offensive but a little rude. You were kind of making fun of her and some people take that really seriously.

Have you ever heard the not to speak ill of the dead? I guess it's not 'offensive' but death is such a touchy subject. Not to mention it's none of your business to speak on it anyways.
