Why do Northerners hate Southerners?

My husband is from Massachusetts. I am from the Deep South. Since moving to Massachusetts seven years ago, I have been subjected to extreme prejudice. I thought this area was supposed to be open-minded, but it is anything but. Massachusetts is a backward state that is full of hypocrites. How many northerners reading this have hired or shown kindness to a southerner?

Some northerners stereotype southerners and automatically either think they're a bunch of racist rednecks or a bunch of sweet and gentle people who cook like Paula Deen. other than that, i have no reason to why they wouldn't like them.

I'm a northerner and I love southerners. Most of the ones I've met have been nice people. I don't want to generalize about Massachusetts because it has it's good places and good people but certain areas have earned a reputation for rudeness among the neighboring states.



I've shown the southerners around here how to dress for the weather and treated them like brothers and sisters.

At least customer service isn't based off of what part of the country you are from, unlike in the south.

I am originally from Massachusetts and had recently over to SC.

I can honestly say that ignorance is everywhere, but I never had customer service issues back up north.

I would be willing to be ton this one,stories, experiences and even persons knowing history well, are debating, drawing conclusion on the past war the North & South had. Plus, plenty of us all have traveled, and/or still have relative who live there, (not me, but many!)

I don't have a problem with southerners unless they're racists. In fact, my grandparents live in the south. I like people from anywhere on earth until they give me a reason not to.

I'm sorry to hear that :( but I'm a southerner and I have a BAJILLION friends that live up north :) maybe they were being prejudice if you have an accent, I'm sorry but people can be mean like that. Like I said y'all once and they laughed :/ but that's ok, I didn't care.

Because the Northerners know that the Southerners are much much much more EPIC than they are.

Well, most of the people in the north, don't care for people from MASS. so don't feel bad. I lived in Mississippi for a while and loved it, and the people.
