yeah, I'm going to have to go and disagree with cbgaviniii's answer that Saudi is far down on the scale of HR violations. I lived there for 2 years and in Africa, and can honestly say that Saudi is a no brainer compared to Iran. Remember its a far more restrictive brand of Islam in Saudi- Sunni Wabbiism- which is intolerant, extremist, sexist, racist, and violent. I'm sure there are many bad violators- Sudan (may be the worst), China, N. Korea, Myanmar...but I feel Saudi needs to be put right up there with them. Here are few reasons why:
- regulary scheduled, barbaric, public executions put on for entertainment
- those being executed, poor third world nationals, are almost never the guilty party - that dubious honor belonging to Saudi's who never pay for their crimes due to deep corruption.
- Third world nationals are enslaved in Saudi- their visas taken from them upon entry. they are then often not paid- Saudi is a giant prison.
- Only Saudi's have "rights" in Saudi Arabia- and this subject to the law of corruption...Foreigners are not supposed to be in Saudi and therefore if they become a victim of a crime they are found to be 1/2 at fault simply because they are present in the "Kingdom".
- Saudi is the largest exporter of terrorists and terror funds in the world. They send millions of dollars annually to Sudan for the express purpose of genocide of Africans.
So in summary, Saudi is a corrupt government that wields power without oversight, routinely killing and enslaving its own inhabitants for profit, religion, or sheer boredom. Additionally, they are exporting these national pasttimes abroad in a wide campaign to spread the disease of Islamic extremism...think that qualifies?
