Get him a gift book set, a boxed DVD set, a boxed CD set, or find aplace that sells asian tea sets or get him personalized chopsticks in his favorite color. Or. . . if it's not too expensive create him a gift basket/box with those little asian placemats, a tea or serving set, and personalized chopsticks, with a gift certificate to a really good oriental restaurant. . .

I have some gay friends who are Asian as well. In terms of Christmas gifts, the best thing would be just to get him something he doesn't have and likes, same as anyone else. There's a lot of gifts that everyone likes that are not based on sex orientation, and you seem to have a huge list for this guy.

You didn't say how much you intended on spending, so it depends alot on that. It sounds like your friend is into cultural things. How about making him a basket with things like tickets to a concert, museum, art show, gift card to a music shop, etc...... You can add as many as your budget allows you to add. Being gay doesn't have anything to do with what you get him for Christmas. You seem to know a lot about him so get him some kind of music CD. or video. Since he likes Asian culture, get him a sushi set,(dishes) saki set. (cups), etc

Try these! Probably best as stocking stuffers or secret santa. They are cheap and don't look it. I used these last year and they were a big hit.
