Interracial Couples in commercials?

I have always wondered why commercials assume every couple is of the same race. I guess they want to remain neutral so racist people still buy their products. The only ones I saw a lot of were of Asian women and white men, b/c people are “used” to that. I have to admit though, that slowly is changing. I have seen two fashion commercials with a white guy liking/dating a black girl. Do you think fashion is “ahead” in progress or something? What is your opinions?

Yeah like Eharmony.com commercials, the couples are always the same race. I saw an Ikea commercial with a interracial couple, the man was Asian and the women was Black, and they had a biracial kid(Black and Asian) on the commercial with them.

On the same commercial they also had a gay (White and Asian) interracial couple, they had a kid too.

That's the only commercial I've seen with interracial couples.

Fr_chuck had the best answer. It's still not really accepted in American society to date outside their race, although it is more common to see black men and white women. I wish it would be more common to see the other way around too (Bl. woman, W. Man) because it'd give me hope cuz I'm a black woman and I want to be in an interracial relationship of any kind. I want it to BE ok...even though I know not everyone will like it, if I see it other places with not just the man being black it would make me feel a whole lot better.

Well, apparently a LOT has changed in the past 6 years ALL I see on commercials are interracial couples. I see way more on TV than I do in real life...the same with Gay couples. Why does the media feel compelled to misrepresent these groups?

I also agree strongly with blueruble.....Get a life. Do you want to see more of it on TV so you can feel more comfortable doing it? Confirmation bias from the media to make you feel better? Maybe some of us are Proud of our heritage....Not racist, just proud of where WE came from and we want our offspring to resemble us and to not have the social issues I have seen with interracial children in the school system.

What is it about people who are racially hypersensitive who look for people's races and genders and how they're matched on TV? Those who are not happy unless people can be manipulated to conform to their concept otherwise they suspect bigotry.
