I've heard a lot of people talking about how blacks are voting along racial lines, and how important the issue of race has suddenly become in elections that, in the past, have only featured white males. So I was wondering- if the republicans had put up, say, J.C. Watts as their candidate, instead of McCain, and the democrats had Joe Biden, Clinton, or some other white candidate, how many of you who are black Americans would vote for J.C. Watts?

I wouldn't vote for Alan Keyes, so I know race doesn't matter to me.

I want something different in the white house not the same people who've been running america albeit in the white house or from some other corner of this country. It the same politicians up to the same BS, and people are tired of it.

Whites have been voting for white this whole time so why should it even matter to you...Many white today are not voting for Obama because he is black..what will you say about that?

And many black people are not voting for him just because he is black maybe blacks like what he is talking about. He seems to be a person who is all for the people who are hard working class, middle class americans. Which is most of us. Not the wealthy like Mccain and Palin who seems to be quite the dictator. Obama seems to want to help everyone..not just black people. And just what the hell is wrong with that

Clinton by the way did not really liked black people. Black folks were just mesmerized by the fact he played the saxophone and smoked weed as if that's a black thing. Clinton was against affirmative action and was for building more prisons instead of schools. Bush had more blacks in his cabinet than Clinton.

i don't think anybody is playing the race card it has a lot to do with being a democrat which a lot of people not only blacks are..no one what to see another republican in office again..they haven't done too much for working people look at the last four years..it about the economy and people not only black are suffering right now..from what i know alot of black people vote for gore kerry and clinton for the years i know..it has nothing to do with race it has to do with making america better..so would you say rich people would vote for mccain because he's rich or because hes white or not vote obama because he's black..now that i do believe..and just to prove facts about that..just search the question on here about obama his a crack head he lacks knowledge ..when he has more college education than both republicans that are running now..or the one that gets me is that he's racist against white people when the woman that birth him was white!!!! its alot of double standard for people and even proves that some not all white people cant stand to see someone other than themselves with higher power and i dont think that right

You could also ask the question "are white Americans being racists if they vote for Mccain?" I guarantee that there are individuals not voting for Obama just because he is black.

I don't think so. If Barack was a black man and said

Yeah, I voted with Bush 90% of the time

That would've been a wrap for him. But he didn't. So not only is he black, but he has experience and is ready to lead, unlike McCain and his retarded vice president who can't even control her own daughter.

not really look at jesse jackson & al sharpton neither would make it to the primaries to save their lives & i believed they tried. so what I'm saying is we feel obama is the right candidate who just happens to be black. also if he wins he would be apart of a major change. another thing to remember not all, but most african Americans are democrat & you have to consider a lot of whites are voting for obama so that must tell us all something.

If that is the only reason for voting for him, then yes. That is as racist as voting against him because he is black. Also, I think you are wrong. I think a lot of black people are voting for Obama just becasue he is black. 90% of them CANNOT agree with his positions.
