Uk and America are sister countries, its pretty much the same....majority of Americans are of English decent, then its German, Irish, French, Italians. The only difference is of course our accents and I heard american accents was influenced by Irish accents, American literature and culture has lots of ties with the UK.

Do British People Like Americans

Hi American, I'm a Brit living in the Rep. of Ireland. I served in the Royal Navy and was fortunate to visit the eastern side of the US, and experience that fantastic American hospitality. People tend to perceive other cultures on what little experience they have had first hand, so unless a person has travelled, all they 'know' is what they see through the tv or press, which can be misleading. Many Brits think that most Americans are trigger happy and carry guns all the time, which is far from the truth. Sometimes there seems to be a lot of anti-Brit sentiment from Americans, I think that those who do have a gripe tend to make more noise about it, and this happens both ways. I like the American openness, if you like or want something, you will say so. I met a group of Americans in Virginia Beach who asked me to sit with them so they could listen to an Englishman talk, (the accent), strange to a quiet Englishman, yet what a compliment. British and Irish history is very complex and frequently turbulent, also often mis-understood. The American revolution was the nearest thing to a civil war on foreign soil, and a tragedy for both sides, but created the first real democracy. I also like your colourful American English. We're not that different really, but those differences are often a source of fun and banter.

Well to be honest I like america. I have been there twice and Florida is a very nice place and so are the people. But a lot of Americans mock us of our accents but genrally I don't think it means much :D I am learning about the american great plaines and how the native americans acted. I think america is a nice place with a lot of nice people. Yes you do get some racist but there's a lot in Britain as well. But genrally I think americans are nice and so is the countrie :D but a lot of imagrints moves to Britain and start arguing with americans. Then the imigrints say there british witch makes americans dislike us :(. I hope this helped :D -Tom

I think you're alright.

No great love or dislike of you.

Often find some US reality shows a bit too much, can't say I'm too keen on your gun laws.

But, you're a much larger country than us, with possible complicated law changes from state to state, we're tiny in comparison and the whole land, made up of different countries to make the UK all follow the same laws. I think there are clear differences, I guess we've also a lot in common, which is more obvious and shared as we speak the same language.

On the whole we're a more reserved people with our emotions, whereas Americans tend to be the opposite, and therefore we can be perceived as stand-off ish and you can be perceived as too in our faces ( these are generalisations) you're also perceived as being quite a religious country, whereas we're not that into all that anymore ( don't get me wrong it exists, but that's a general observation)

The American government is usually questionable from over here, there is a perceived arrogance of the way your government does things, I've met and spoke with a few Americans, and there is often an air of arrogance, but that could possibly be the forward and in your face trait I referred to earlier.

On the whole, you'll rarely find anyone here who really dislikes America and her people.

I don't care so much for Americans, they think they are superior to all other nations. They have absolutely no culture, cannot even spell the most basic words and totally mispronounce practically every word in the English language. I am a proud European and glad that I am not an American

Gosh I think British and Americans get along. I think that America is known as big Britain because of its large British, Scottish, welsh and cornish population but I reckon that the us and the uk are the same

Em.. This is difficult to answer, I've just always thought of you's as the same as us but with funnier (sorry) accents. That's pretty much it. Obviously a lot of people will have the whole "obese, eat loads of burgers and redneck" stereotypical view of Americans, but most populations are seen as a stereotype :')

Im british and i love americans and america. I have visited your country a number of time and when i leave i can never wait to go back. All americans i have spoken to are very polite and easy to have a conversation with, like you will be just sat on a bus quietly and someone will just start talking to you which i love. That doesnt usually happen in the uk. I have alway thought of america as a giant britain( of that makes sense). I know some bits of our culture are different but we are mostly the same. The only thing i think americans struggle with is our sense of humor as its very sarcastic and dry but that only seems to be in curtain parts of america. I as a brit love your sense of humor like in movies and television series that are very popular in britain. I think as a whole britain and america get along and have the most in common out of any other countrys and we always seem to stick together like brother and sister. I like to think of britain as the 52nd state. Haha.

Hi, I adore Americans. You are amazing people. However, we are not posh, my American friends always say I sound like a farmer. That's because I'm from the south west and we don't all drink tea. I do, my friends don't

On the whole we Love them and feel sorry for them Their Foreign policy leaves a lit to be Desired

No Body asked them to try and be the Policemen of the Planet (They Failed)

their Militay Might be big But as history has shown Not the Best

they Rely a Lot on What My Dad said Like all this Rubbish about the British having Rotten Teeth when in Fact they have the Best teeth in the world

we cannot Blame the Average American for Not Knowing that blame goes to their education system

I love the Closer But sometimes her accent is Hard to understand

and I hate the Racism used in Hollywood want a Bad Guy Employ an Englishman with a Typical English accent

I traveled around Europe with 4 Americans and Only One Spoiled the Trip she was a school teacher and Right where a South African Head Master was wrong and she had never been to Africa

But all In All we Love Non Military Americans

'Fancy'? You've obviously never heard Northern English accents like mine! :P

I tend to find Americans more optimistic on average than Brits :)

And some of you guys really don't understand our banter.

I think Ricky Gervais summed it up really well when he said "Americans are brought up to believe they can be the next president of the United States. Brits are told, "it won't happen for you"".

When I think of an American, to be quite honest I think of fat people and annoying screaming teenage girls that are quite full of themselves, however this is only because of the types of American shows shown on British television, like Icarly, Victorious, and many more, and I do think your nation is overweight because that's a well known fact. Overall though you guys seem nice enough.
