right today is america independence day and i was wondering who did they get independence from ? i read somewhere that england used to own america hundreds of years ago but they got theyre independence back somewhere around the year 1778 from england .. am i right ?

Yeah we got our independence from England.

July 4th is when the Declaration was signed, basically.

Yes you are right. The British took control of America (or then known as The New World) in the 1700's but with high taxes the people there grew tired of the British and revolted. On this day the Declaration was written so on this day we celebrate our Independence

it was a rebellion from England because of over taxation and lack of representation

by the way what do mean 'we' no one on earth that drove the native Americans away is currently alive
