No - but you have to ask yourself, was there non-corrupt government there to defend their citizens, or were these atrocities carried out by corrupt governments and/or guerrilla gangs/mobs/terrorists? With the proper security infrastructure in control by the people then they would easily have a way of protecting themselves from such evil.

If you think that this type of thing would happen on American soil - you would be severely mistaken.

Also gun 'control' is a rather broad umbrella term. Control implies heavier scrutiny on the owners, not making them illegal for citizens to have altogether.

While I agree with the point you are trying to make, and definitely support your view - i think that this is rather outdated from contemporary, American, gun control discussions to prevent future atrocities on our home soil from happening (I.e. taking the guns away from the irresponsible, and less-than-smart parents who would let hormonally charged children access to their firearms)

I only hope "gun control" doesn't mean my weapons will be removed, nor my ability to acquire another,

As a legal gun owner, with a handgun or assault rifle in hand, accomplished the following;

-stopped a theft on a neighbors property, by firing warning shots.

-removed a stalker (for a friend) that police couldn't find, by firing upon his rear tires as he was trying to escape. he reported the wheel damage to police. lol. He never returned, nor did the police ever arrive to ask me questions.

-stopped a severely drunk and belligerent individual from driving further after an accident, by flattening a tire.

am i a vigilante ? maybe...

but its a tool. The situations couldn't have been remedied with a 911 call, living way out in the county, 25 minute eta for police response.

by breaking various rules it must be completed: cut back down a ten/22 rifle and hearth it with a solenoid hitting the set off... blah blah... something of the test is left to the pupil. do not attempt this at abode. Or everywhere else.

gun control and disarming people are two different things.
