Question:
Honestly, why is the n word banned from Y!A but people are allowed to write "cracker"?

Don't tell me something about "cracker being a common word meaning something else that isn't racist or bigoted. If that were the reason, then words like "d!ck", "f@g" and "s p u n k" wouldn't be banned. The first is a common name for people named Richard, the second is often used by the English instead of "cigarette", and the last means to be be spirited, to have a lot of energy.

There are other examples of commonly used words that Y!A bans, so if they are going to ban words that some "minorities" associate with being derogatory to their race, then why not ban all such words which apply to every race?

This question comes to mind because I watched a recent episode of the Boondocks and they constantly used the n word in that episode (along with other such words for blacks) but other words were bleeped out. Makes me wonder why Y!A not only bans certain words which can be and are said on TV quite often, but also doesn't ban words equally.

Ugh, this is the problem with society, we want to move forward without looking backwards, it's not possible. Censorhsip will be the death of an informed society. My point is this, whilst I do not condone the word we have to recognise that there was a time when this sort of practise existed. Not so we can revert to those times, but rather so we can move forward. Should we forget that the holocaust ever happened? Gawd no! So we do we discuss it when it was such a horrible thing, moreover why do try to understand how the holocaust happened? In short, so we can never do it again.

Cracker isn't steeped in as much history and hatred. Don't be ignorant.

haha, and as Mace said it's also a food.

Edit: I believe Raymond Ricky disproved your point about ****, ***** and *** being blocked.

The reason I say you are ignorant is because I think we all know very well why the n-word is banned. It is ignorant to pretend that it is on par with a word like cracker. Cracker is not nearly as widespread as the n-word , and cracker is largely an American phenomenon.

I do get your point but I don't agree with it. A shorter answer to your question would be: some of these words are considerably more offensive than others.

Also, those words are not replaced with asteriks for me. Must be your local version of Y!A.

LOL, because crackers are tasty and go well with cheese and some other types of foods. Haven't you ever had a Hors d'oeuvre with a cracker?

why would you want to use the N word? It has no purpose other than spreading hate or insults. If you want to be fired up and indigent about something find a more positive cause.
