Question:
Why do customers care so much what cashiers do?

I was checking sales stats on the computer behind the service counter and a customer somehow thought I was playing games and accused me of that and starting complaining about the service and he was just there with his friend who was actually paying for something. He just looked around. So why do it matter what a cashier does when there is no one in line?

Because people suck. They are nosy, will not mind their own business, and they like to lord it over you if they are in any position at all to do so. I was a cashier in high school and my first semester of college and I quickly came to this conclusion. I will never work in customer service again.

Well,.... The friend was standing there waiting to pay for something. It's your job to take care of the customer. You can do your market research later.

The fact that you didn't greet the friend , indicates that you were not taking care if him. Some body had to get your attention.

Some day you and all the rest of the entitled generation is going to wake up and discover that "the customer is always right".

That's messed up. It's not his business what you are doing except when you providing service to him. Now if you were ignoring him and looked like you were playing games that's another story-or if he saw you take money out the register and put it in your pocket for instance.

I hate rude trashy ppl like that that just want to cause a stir where ever they are.

-Some People LIKE to Whine & Complain about Things... And YOU just happened to be "handy " ! ;) Ignore Their protestations- & go about Your Business. At least You HAVE some Business to mind- even if some of your Customers don't... :)
