What is up with people?

If white people had a NAACP we'd be racist. If we had white history month we'd be racist. If we tried to talk about Obama being half white we'd be racist. If we made a big deal just because a white guy was president we'd be racist. If we had a club for white people only we'd be racist. well you get the point. Can someone explain this to me?

First of all, I'm black and I didn't ask for any of these things. However, I'm going to attempt to answer this question for you even though it's in the wrong forum. And please, don't answer back with, "then go back to Africa. I'm NOT from Africa. It's my ancestors that were."



Since you asked the question, then you had to know that slavery was going to come up. Personally, I thought we were pass all of that. Unfortunately, questions like this are still being asked so it has to be brought up.



For years black people were denied so many things it was ridiculous. Why? Because white people, your ancestors, believed that we didn't have the ability to think in a rational way. Your ancestors believed that we were stupid.



Take for example the Tuskegee Air Men. These men simply wanted to learn how to fly and help to protect their country just like any white man. Our government thought that what they'd do was to keep the test requirements the same as they were for whites. They thought that by doing this, all of the black men that were in this program would fail. Therefore, the experiment would fail and no black men would be flying planes during the war. However, our men proved them wrong.



It turned out the the Tuskegee Air Men flew some of the most successful missions during the war. And it wasn't until the 90's that they were even recogonized. But I guess you with your exceptional intelligence would know that.



Now, let's talk about the NAACP. Do you even know what those letters stand for? The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. In the beginning, this association made sure that black people got a fair shake, and not discriminated against. Now? Honestly, I'm not too sure what they do or if they're really needed anymore. Apparently they believe they are, for they're still here.



You do still have clubs for white people only. My white husband couldn't get in. It was several years ago before we became Christians. His grandfather was a Mason so my husband, with grandpas support, pledged to the Masons. He didn't get in because of me, his black wife.



You don't need a white history month because pretty much the only history that's taught in school is white history. Our children don't learn that a black man invented the windshield wiper. I had to take black history in college to learn anything. "That's why we have black history month".



As for Obama, I did not vote for him because he NOT the right man for the job. And a lot of people are just now starting to find this out. I've been called a racist by my own people. So I don't want to hear it from you either.



Now then, I hope I was able to answer your question without ignorance.

Well, the situation might be different... If ships came over from Africa where Africans kidnapped and bought Americans to harvest sorghum or other crops on African farms. If Americans were sent back to Africa by the hundreds, stacked like cordwood in the cargo hold and held down in chains. If those American laborers were bought and sold in a faraway land like livestock. If those American laborers had no rights to property, education or even safety and regularly starved, abused, tortured, raped or killed for minor infractions or even on a whim. If those Americans weren't denied rights, intimidated or attacked even after released from their involuntary servitude by locals who were determined to keep them as an underclass. Only problem is that Africans didn't do that to Americans. It was the other way around. Well you get the point.

White people aren't a minority.

White people have never endurred the amount of racism black people have.

White people were never slaves simply because of their skin color and culture.

White people don't need a white history month because white history is taught everyday in schools.

Every single American president has been white, except for Obama. So it should be a big deal

*edit* don't you get it? black people don't have the same chances because they aren't treated the same as white people BECAUSE of (some)white people. These things are put in place to try to FORCE (some) white people to give black people equality. Just the fact that black people need these things shows that they aren't being treated equally to white people.

And i'm not talking about the past, this stuff is still happening today (inequal opportunity for black people)

I totally agree. I have black, asian, hispanic, mixed, etc friends and if you truly look into history every single person on earth had a family member that was a slave at one point and time. I think in some ways the poor/middle class white working man is now the minority. The country has laws to protect women, and those of color but what protects the white middle class working man. My husband was recently discriminated against and what could we do about it? Not ****!!!!!!!!!!!

The thing is - if blacks want to be treated as everyday Americans, why then a "Black History" month? Like they are only recognized 1 month out of the year? Are they not Americans too? They are keeping themselves separated by defining themselves as different. What would Sharpton and Jackson?

A good example of this would be Ladies First. If some woman went up to you in a line, and said "Ladies first!" (assuming your a guy.) You would think they are massive ***, but if a guy went up and said "boys first!" People would be screaming sexist.

We have a National Association for the Advancement of White People, it's called The USA

We do have clubs for white people only - the senate (with one token black).
