Question:
What is a serious question anyways?

I get hate mail from you people all the time saying grow and and act your age. Well stop calling me 12. I'm 18. and I don't see anything at all wrong with the questions i ask. If you don't like them you don't have to answer them. Sorry i have as much right as you guys to post stuff on this site, as long as i'm obeying the community guidelines, who cares? What's it to you anyways? So if you don't like my questions what should i ask then? Why do you feel the need to be serious all the time anyways? What's wrong with fun questions?

I skimmed through some of your questions and I think they're good ones. Who has a right ANYWHERE to tell you if your question was a bad one? Since elementary school I've learned that there are no stupid questions. Those who send hate mail need to open their eyes. Yes, some people use Y!A for serious questions, and as long as one wouldn't be compltely rude/sarcastic on a serious subject, I think everything would be fine. No one can be serious all the time-- we need some laughter in our lives!

Why are you so concerned about what others think? There's nothing wrong with fun questions. If you are concerned about getting hate mail, then change your setting to not receive mail. I've received mail from a total of three people, and one of them ended up being psycho and sent me 22 messages within two days (nubian goddess) so I just changed my mail setting to "no mail". Lastly, since you have stated that you "hate this site" in your profile, why are you continuing to spend your time here? It doesn't seem to be very productive to continue to choose to do something that you hate, yet don't have to do.

PS. "you people" is a pretty broad generalization. Perhaps it would be better stated to say that you get hate mail from some individuals.

I looked at your questions as well, and didn't see anything too off the wall. Some a little goofy, but life needs that at times. Some quite pointless, as they really aren't questions that anyone would go searching to find an answer for, but seem to be something to occupy your own time. Perhaps if you focussed on questions that others might also truly be seeking answers for, people will consider you more mature. Just ignore the folks who get you down and if you're not able to then stop logging into Y! Answers.

Not sure what prior questions you are getting berated for, but a "fun" question is just as good as a serious one. To me, the best questions are those that get people thinking, that solicit some good, thought-provoking answers and that aren't necessarily so straightforward that there is only one answer. Now, you may want to post up nothing but fun questions and not be serious. But, again, without having seen what you have been posting, I don't know if maybe they are TOO silly or just plain waste of time for folks to read. Hope not. But I've seen some pretty crazy, stupid, sick and foul questions here. Just avoid those and you'll be fine.

I've heard misery loves company, some people hate to know someone in the world is happy. What kind of questions do you post that's getting people in an uproar? You're right you have the right as long as you are obeying the guideline, age doesn't

make you wise or unwise we learn something new everyday,it doesn't who it's coming from or their age.

Have A Blessed Life and try not to let people get to you.

I have viewed your questions and see nothing out of the ordinary at all. They seem like all the other questions on this site. I personally wasn't aware of any misconceptions until you brought it up in this question.

My advice to you is this:

People will do and say as they wish, regardless of who you are or what you do. If you bring anymore attention to the problem, it may get worse. I'm sorry people feel the need to act this way, but I think they just do it for kicks. Don't read too much into it, and try to keep being yourself.

Hi. JJJ I have seen your post before and never seen anything wrong with them. Frankly, the only "serious questions" I see here that I feel are wrong are when the question involves harm to someone and the poster is just asking it for shock value. Like you read "I'm 12 and was just raped by my teacher. He said he'd kill me if I tell. What do I do?" or "My baby won't stop crying and I'm thinking about throwing it out the window" Then you read their other posts and their saying "I'm a rich 90 year childless lady who wants to adopt a 16 year old hot young man". That type of sh*t really p*sses me off.

Nothing wrong with fun questions, though I admit some of us "oldies" (I'm 58) can sometimes feel like outcasts or that Yahoo!Answers is in danger of being overrun with trivia (and sometimes obscenity) with some of more outrageous questions... (and I'm not including you... I do look forward to looking at your questions, but don't always answer because I don't have anything to contribute - and because you sound a bit like my 18 year old daughter!).

Enough of the 'grumps'... now to your question... surely a serious question is one that is willing to make a life time commitment, wants to raise kids and settle down and isn't just after momentary pleasure... or is that a serious guy?

A serious question is a question that requires a serious answer, which I have a hard time with anyway. It's more fun to answer the silly questions. Life is too short to be worried about the "serious questions" Live & have fun !

Yes you have all the rights to ask, in the cause of learning and understanding others. That is how a serious question brings people together, if someone dose not appreciate that, don't get mad, look for some one who dose understand and has an open hear and mind to listen...cool it down, and keep asking..............

I think this question isn't so much about wanting an answer as it is about defending your right to be here. I'm just not sure WHY you come here when it says in your brief profile blurb thingy that you HATE this site. Can you shed some light on this?

I browsed through your questions and they are mostly fine. I don't get the "guess...." type questions. They seem sort of pointless and juvenile.

I think most would think Yahoo answers is designed for people who really are seeking information rather than wanting to use this as a surrogate chat room. I hope this gives you some perspective.

I love fun questions! If people go as far as to e-mail you, e-mail then the same thing back! After a while they will get tired and quit! Unless they are really stupid!

I love your questions, at least you don't ask 5 times a day if jesus is my friend and if I want to shave my head and sing "hare krishna" lol.... keep up the good work, life is too short to be serious all the time :)

Have fun, ignore hate mail, you look young in your pic for an 18 year old, I wouldn't've said you were over 15. If you really don't care, then don't let it get to you.

Well I'm new to this as well, fun questions are always great (IMO). If you'd like a good place to ask the silly and the serious questions, you can also try the Internet Oracle: http://cgi.cs.indiana.edu/~oracle/index.cgi .

You just keep being yourself!

Some people just have way to much time on there hands.

Like your mother told you if you don't have anything nice to say keep it to yourself.

Have a good day!

I vote that a good question. Good luck with your future ones.

(Perhaps a change in your normal style of wording will stop people misunderstanding you? I don't know, it's just a thought.)

Why do you even listen to what others say? Be your own person and tell the others who don't like your questions to piss off! Keep asking and I'll keep answering! :)
