With any of the first three, you have to start at ground level. Look for apprentice level jobs, you need experience and contacts -- creativity isn't going to get you anywhere. All three 'careers' are *extremely* competitive and full of bright sparks who are sure that they're the next best thing.

Get to the library. Lots of books on career paths and prerequisites. Especially writing. Lots of writers looking for markets. ;-)

Plastic surgeon means a medical degree. Get cracking with the science books. You need to get into a university with a good pre-med program. And get out of it alive. Then you get to worry about the eight years.

As far as taking too long to become a professional, that's probably the same with any good career. Even becoming established as a photographer will take time.

As far as being a movie writer, that too, will take a great deal of time. There are many tools for coming up with ideas. Read some books on writing and see what you can find there for ideas.

A great book for you might be "The Artists Way".

It sounds like you're pretty creative, so pick a career that will offer you the chance to use your talents. Money is great, but it isn't everything. If you can come home at the end of the day and feel good about your job, then you are successful.

Why are you focusing on cash for happiness? That is what each of these scream, money, money, money and more money. Do what you love, what makes you happy, what makes you feel like a child again. THEN the money will naturally come by way of your passion showing through your work.

Example:

I use to be a big wig suit and tie guy, was offered regional rep. over Va for a national multi million dollar company. Instead, I turned it down and quit, I wasn't happy.

I then got a job as a car detailer (yea, of all things), then a year later I opened my own small shop. It closed and I opened another, this went on a few times, all learning. When I started this I told myself I would be happy with $15 per hour ($20 today) as I just enjoyed working on the cars and talking to people who had the same passion. Plus was stress free, no meetings, no one barking at me, wanting to sue me for malpractice, etc.

Today, 10 yrs later, I am one of the top experts in my field, way past "detailer", but today I am what is known as a Automotive Cosmetics & Paint expert. I have trained body shops on how to paint, I aid local body shop supply stores when they have an issue, I do cosmetic paint repairs on high lines cars (Ferrari, Porsche, Lexus, etc).

Since I went after what I liked and I showed my passion, it paid off. Not only being on the top, but that $15 an hour I had hoped for.... turned into an average of $75 per hour. Like to see any corporate suit and tie job offer a stress free life, a life I set at my own pace and time frame and make what I make.

I ran after money with my first career.... you see where I ended up. Go to school, work for 7 yrs and you will ask yourself what I asked.... " why am I here? I am not happy ". Start off by doing what makes you happy, you will save that life change later on that many of us go through.

I think that God answers all prayers, but sometimes the answer is "no". If had a child with a painful disease, I would do research on the disease, or contact people that are researchers on the disease and join in the battle against it. Maybe God is saying "join the fight". I hope this isn't happening to you or anyone in your family (painful disease in a child). If it is, contact me and I will see if I can't help by doing some research on the subject - its one of the things I happen to be good at, fortunately.

PR is creative and well paid. You may need a degree.

Become a writer or artist, but you will likely need a stable part time income.

A graphic designer - you could do this in any industry, advertising, design manufacturing.....
