What is your remedy for getting over hurt feelings if someone was really nasty to you?

I know it would depend upon the situation but, people can be so nasty and rude and though I've lived here (new york) all my life (25 years) I just can't stop letting it get to me. (For example, someone steps on u on the train and then looks at u like it was ur fault, clerk with an attitude at a store when all u want to know is where are the notebooks etc.) I know its not personal, but what's ur method of dealing?

I concentrate on other things to distract me from thinking about my feelings, usually schoolwork or something. If I can't take it, I'd either write it out a spare notebook, paint or draw it off, or punch a pillow until I get tired. If it gets the nasty on my nerves, I rant it out, but by myself where no one can hear me, of course.

People like that are stuck at a low energy level, and cannot produce the energy they need to keep themselves happy so the take it with emotional "spells" of sorts. Sensations of entitlement like (how dare she inconvenience me) are based on arrogance and ultimately self-centered. Self centered emotions are used to steal other peoples energy (self-pity, anger, arrogance, hatred). If someone can make you feel bad then they have lowered your energy level to guilt or shame and in turn they absorb what you lost, making them feel better. If you think about this for a while and observe your social relationships you will see that what I say is true.

You can avoid this spell by not giving them the time of day. Act as if they don't even exist. This is your shield against emotional attacks.

I have lived in NY all my life as well and I have rules I live by. Stores with rude staff don't get my business. Sometimes you have to make people respect you. What I mean by that, someone steps on your foot, ask them if they know the word sorry or excuse me. Once you put a person on the spot, they look real stupid and have no choice but to acknowledge what they did and say sorry or excuse me.

Often humor.

"Oh, sorry...I didn't mean to put my foot under yours."

Depending on the situation, you can tell if it's wise to do or not...some people just can't stand hearing anything, and I've seen this.

Rude clerks, I avoid the store, or the person.

If I have to deal with a difficult person, I maintain a cheerful attitude.

No one says you have to be around a rude person.

People who are rude and mean for no apparent reason are not worth the time and energy. Hurt feelings just take time to get over depending on the situation and if you know for sure it wasn't personal even easier.

I know the Lord and the Lord said in the latter days that the hearts of many would grow cold. Be nice to everyone even though they are rude to you. If you are a Christian then you show Christ in you.

The Lord tells us to not be offended. Scripture tells us that "if Christ be for us, who can be against us." Scripture tells us that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

I always put Scripture, the Word of God, in my heart and I go around loving everyone. Tell some of these mean people, "May the Lord bless you."

are u a sensitive? then try this.

step on them and look as if its their fault. ( if they speak angry wrds, cover your solar plexus. imagine a mirror between you wth the reflective side towards the rude person. this may sound silly , but it works, trust me.)

clerk- complain to the store manager!

after u get home , take a nice hot shower!

People who are rude are irrelevant. They are not worth thinking about.

Rude people get you down and you live in New York..... Ever thought about moving?

It's not up to us to deal with people who act like that.God will deal with them in His own time. And believe me, Karma is a bigger pain in the butt that we could ever be.

let it go in "one ear and out the other" - life is too short to let the little things get to you. you are the the only one who can make yourself "feel bad" - others try to make you feel that way, but that's only if you ALLOW it. don't let the little things get to you! live life and try to be positive.

I usually don't let ignorant people bother me. I just laugh and move on with my life.
