Do you have a sick feeling wherever you go overseas and see something American? Is it damaging or corrupting other cultures? Let me know how you feel about it and 10 points will be yours.

Yes!! I am an American. I have friends from different countries and they hate it as well. I haven't been overseas yet (one more year I will :)) I think it's damaging other cultures. Things like American music (mostly rap, hip hop, pop) are being listened to, poeple ritin liek dis, dressing gothic/punk, it annoys me. I hope it ends soon.

Come on now! American culture is so much better than any other countries.

Have you ever tried to eat French ot Italian food? Thank America that their are McDonald's everywhere so people can eat properly.

If Hollywood wasn't sending their superior product overseas people would be reduced to watching stupid movies made in their own countries by jokers like Kurosawa, Melville and Fellini.

And American tourists make such great ambassadors, showing the less fortunate how to behave in a civilized and tasteful manner.

Not really. What do you think you look at every time you buy something from a store? Most of the things we buy are made overseas. Also half of this culture is put together by influences of other cultures. A culture does not have to accept us. If they do then it is their choice. Sometimes we help other cultures (like African Nations) because there is the spread of disease. I was recently up at Niagara Falls and saw so many foreign people there. They all were smiling and enjoying themselves. I don't know but to me it seems like people like our culture.

But I love going to other countries to see what their McDonalds is like!!! When I was in Germany, the Mc Donalds looked like an upper-class Mc Donalds in the USA. I ordered like normal, got my food and ate it ... however, there were bus-boys who took the tray ... My friend (military wife) explained that Germany is enviromentally concious, and the bus-boys ensured that recycling was being done properly.



In Greece, well, It was all decked out ... pillars ... it looked like a five star resturant!!! I went up, ordered ... but they gave me a table number so I could sit down ... then the food was brought to me ... and a waiter refilled my drink ... They also bussed my tray ... Whoa ... Trippy!!!



Italy was very American, but I had to buy my ketchup ... which is OK since everyone knows that fries without ketchup is stupid, so I guess they understand the value of ketchup ... Italians are penny pinchers!!!



I popped into a McDonals in Istambul, but it looked like only muslim men were being served, so we exited gracefully, and found a resturant.



Haven't been to a McDonalds in Mexico yet ... hmm ... good reason for a trip ... Yeah ... must visit a Mexican McDonalds!!!

Yes. It makes me sick. As an American I am sick and tired of seeing corruption, poor fashion taste, economic issues, and cultural sways being blamed on America.

Don't other countries have any mind of their own? Can't Iraqis drink their Coke without thinking "Death to America!"

Can't Russians appreciate their own culture while they try to squeeze into their contraband Levi's?

Can't Chinese people appreicate their own heritage while the get fat and obese on McDonalds and KFC?



Maybe the worst thing that has come out of America is finger pointing and not taking account for your own actions.

Yep, the bad part of American influence is that people get more like Americas, and try to imitate Americans in anyway possible anytime. It just gets annoying and irritating , you just look at people walking down the street trying to be more "AMERICAN Looking" or trying to dress or act like Americans.



The good part is that, wait let me think a few minutes.

Okay, the good part is that most successful Americans are workaholics, and they have nice tv shows.

Here in Israel, most channels are actually in english than hebrew, it's just fantastic! I love english but not all te American Culture.
