Question:
If sex is only for procreation, then why do women have orgasms?

A man's orgasm is functional to propel the sperm into the vagina, but a woman's orgasm serves no reproductive function.

Then why does it happen? According to the bible sex is for procreation between married couples...

ooops guess God messed up again.

A woman's orgasm may serve a purpose as far as the reproductive aspect of it goes. It is said that he female orgasm helps to draw sperm up through the cervix and uterus, thus aiding fertilization and reproduction. Fertility specialists sometimes tell women to lie on their backs and masturbate to orgasm after being artificially inseminated. Female orgasm is correlated with higher fertility rates and more babies.

And as far as your "why does it happen" question goes, sex and orgasms are pleasurable. regurdless of whether people are married or even capable of procreation. I don't see what "the bible" has to do with this.

Personally, I'm agnostic, and don't believe in "god" or "the bible".

Have you considered reading the bible? I'd like you to point out where it says that sex is only for procreation. You won't find it cause the bible does not say that.

Ever heard of the Song of Solomon? It's a book in the bible. That's right we're not talking a little word or two but a whole book. It is all about sex being a great experience for the couple to share; to express they're love to each other. Sex is a gift from God and it does have purpose but it is not limited to procreation.

A Woman's orgasm may serve a reproductive purpose. A 1997 Learning Channel documentary on sex had fiber optic cameras inside the vagina of a woman while she was having sexual intercourse and experiencing an orgasm. During her orgasm, her pelvic muscles contracted, and her cervix dipped into a pool of semen in the vagina making conception more likely.

-- props for the attempted hit against illogical bible BS but, sadly I must say - try again..

No... this is just yet another example of God's plan. However, you are stating the Catholic view of sex which is incorrect, not the biblical view. In the Christian (biblical) view God wants men and women to enjoy healthy sexual relations, but there is a catch. They are to be enjoyed during marriage. If you have pre-marital sex then there may always be the thought in your head that there is something better out there which can and often does lead to infidelity. However, if you abstain until you marry then that is the only person you will know sexually and thus eliminate the possibility of comparisons to other individuals. That's my viewpoint anyway and hopefully it will shed some light on your question.

I think you have misunderstood. God knew what he was doing. No mistakes the creator of everything doesnt make mistakes.

He understood the importance of sex in marriage and while yes procreation is a goal it is not the only goal.

And yes women orgasms do help in that process.

Its because it has to feel good for us to want to do it again, creating more chance of reproduction. If it hurt or there was no sensation at all then whats in it for the woman? Point proven!!

And should women only be allowed to orgasm when they get married? Rubbish!!!
Tony, ya feel me?

Perhaps something about the orgasm helps out with getting the sperm all up in there? The cervix expands and contracts, and acts like a straw, sucking up the semen.

Oops guess you're an idiot.

Well I'd say a woman's orgasm helps propel a man to have an orgasm...it sure does me!
