This is for an assignment in class, so if you could help me out, that'd be great. Thank you. :)

Discuss the effects of media, video games, and violence on the middle childhood aged child. Include examples and what the research says in a detailed, thoughtful way. Since we know play is so important in early childhood, how should the school age child play?

Video games don't cause violence. If it's in a child's nature to be violent, that child will manifest violent behavior. If they don't play video games, people will look to blame movies or television. If the violent child doesn't watch TV, what then? Are books causing his/her violent behavior?

I think that when video games or television or any kind of media are blamed for violence, it's because people are trying to make sense of bad behavior. A lot of people are not comfortable with the fact that in this world, there are some people who are innately violent and/or sociopaths.

Well, you shouldn't exactly let a 5 year old play call of duty. But it doesn't exactly provoke violence in teenagers though. However it does teach them different ways to be violent.. I wouldn't know how to create a molotov, or even that they existed if it wasn't for games (as an example). So it could work as motivation I suppose.

I played violent games back in the day and I turned out to be pretty peaceful. Never shot a hooker in a drive-by after playing Grand Theft Auto.

They tend to be more wild after playing violent video games because they see their role models acting violent. That's who they usually want to be like!!!
