I am a victim of extortion, and it has been going on for 2 years now. It is my aunt who is extorting me. When I was younger, she helped me go to school through sending some cash here and there. I thought she was just helping me out of her kindness, and now that she is broke she wants me to pay her every single cent that she ever gave me. Even the gifts that she has given me, I did send her money, I sent about $1,300 last year, but she wanted me to send her money in bulk otherwise she is going to make moral damages against me and my family. Everybody was telling me not to send her money anymore, and I blocked her emails. She got so mad now, that she sent disgusting letters to everybody I know to humiliate me by her false accusations. In her letter, she wrote my passport number and social security number as well and she was saying that she will put me in jail for not paying her. I am scared that I am going to loose my job because of her false accusations, and I am embarrassed about all this and it has affected my life. Please help on what I can do.

She's broke now and helped you when you needed help. Arrange a payment plan with her. Remember that she never let you down when you had no where else to turn to. She's probably just pissed because she feels that you are not there for her.

Those who want to believe will do; those who don't want to won't. If you're sure that the accusations are false, she must be ashamed; not you. Don't be scared; courts aren't easily convinced. If you must, you won't be forced to pay beyond your means.

You can, and should, go to the police or directly to the District Attorney (if you reside in the U.S.) and have her prosecuted. What she is doing is illegal.

You really should go to the police about this. This is very illegal!

Once she sent the letters, it's over.

You should tell her so.
