Question:
Is my mom a racist.......?

My mom told me she doesn't approve of black and white people dating and marrying, saying that she believes that people should be with people of their own color. I don't think my mom is racist because she has a couple of friends who are black and my one of my best friends is black and I also have a cousin who is half black and my voted for Obama. But I was just a little surprised to hear her say that she doesn't approve of it. But she approves of homosexuals marrying, she said she doens't approve of homosexual relations, but she does of them marrying, which makes no sense to me.

But me, I approve of interracial relationships and marriages, but I don't approve of homosexual relationships or them marrying.

So, do you think she is a racist?

Just ask her 'why' to give you more information on where she stands. Don't let her get away with just a "because that's what I believe in" make her give you a detailed answer on her opinion. If she still gives you a vague answer like, "because it's just not right", she may have some racist beliefs she should deal with. Racists usually can't rationalize why they feel the way they do, they know that they just judge based off color.

It's separation that caused racial differences to begin with. Your mom is a racist. It's okay though, as long as she doesn't influence you or anyone else.

Some people may refer to that as separatism, but there is no basis other than racial difference or tradition, which still has it's roots in a racist society.

Let ur mom have her own opinion she has that right.. However, don't let ur mom's beliefs influence you to have the same.. Be ur own person.
