It's not improving in any way what so ever.
I'm finding that more and more drivers are driving worse and worse.
For example, did you know that you are meant to stay in the far left lane on a Motorway and use the middle lane to overtake a car in the far left lane or use the far right lane to overtake a car in the middle lane. Even when the Motorway is TOTALLY EMPTY I've seen drivers sitting in the middle lane!
Other drivers are just cutting others up again and again with no idea of how dangerous it is to cut someone up by pulling right in front of them. What if the driver you cut up and then paniced, subsequently slowing down and then causing an accident by ending up getting hit by the car behind it and maybe resulting in a multiple car pile-up.
Good question.

Yes, some drivers are very bad indeed. It seems that no-one knows how to act when approaching a roundabout. They should know that you are supposed to indicate right when circling, and then indicate left before your actual exit. Using a mobile 'phone at the wheel is illegal (though people still do), double parking, parking in areas not designated for their class of vehicle, occupying a disabled space without displaying an orange badge, failing to indicate at road junctions, failing to pull into the side when an emergency vehicle is approaching and displaying "blues and twos" (this also is illegal), and the list gets longer. Too many idiots on the roads nowadays.

It's getting worst. Especially in the U.S.
As time goes on, people get so used to driving that they often forget key things like signaling, stopping at STOP signs (they just slow down)..etc. I think that might be due to the fact that in the States a 16 year old can go and get his/her license in a day and drive, while in Canada you have to write a test, go to driving school for 8 months, get a road test, AND get another in a year! Maybe the system should improve to filter out bad habits and behaviours behind the wheel while the person's young..

The more and more gadgets we bring with us on our drive in the car the more likely we are to get into an accident. So I would say the standard of driving is decreasing alot. Believe it or not I was doing 30 M.P.H. in a construction zone and an old man was tailgating me and then decided to pass me for doing the speed limit haha.

I think it depends on whether you mean technical accuracy or courtesy to other drivers.
I think people are becoming more technically adept at operating machinery, which is essentially all a car is. Look at now compared to 30 years ago, there's a much greater portion of the population who are mobile. People who can't drive are rare these days.
As far as courtesy to other road users is concerned though, we're definitely going the other way. Forcing your way through the traffic, cutting up other people, blocking junctions and parking on pavements are a way of life now.

yes , amongst people who are taking the riving test recently, its alot harder to pass now,, loads more questions ,, hazard test is tricky.
however , its not better for the b******s who drive when drunk or wrecked on drugs or who get in a car having never taken a lesson or who come from some other country and drive and kill innocent people here...
there must be a way to really crack down on all this ,after all its a lethal weapon in the wrong hands and must be respected as such....sorry for the rant!!

I think that drivers are getting worse and worse. i'm not sure how they get thier liscence...maybe they drive well enough to pass the test that one day, then throw all the rules of driving out the window.

It is getting worse, especially with all these young and inexperienceds lads on the roads. There's this horrible boy racer culture in the UK that's making the roads unbearable to drive on.

i am 16 and don't drive at all but i think the driver must be very careful because the man's body is very important for himself!

I surely have pushed for decades in US and now stay in Singapore. i believe that the drivers in Singapore is about 6/10 in words of courtesy. There are surely some very courteous drivers who could yield in a crowded street once you want to modify lanes even despite the indisputable fact that the site visitors is bumper to bumper. This changed into an accepted adventure even as my workplace changed into at Raffles position. i said that the most courteous drivers are Taxi drivers. i'm able to easily about continuously anticipate them to yield. for sure there are also many who does no longer supply an inch. apparently, a number of those are foreigners. a thanks to strengthen the courtesy? only be courteous to others and watch the goodwill spread. That changed into how I discovered it even as i turned right into a sparkling driver in US. someone gave thanks to me and that i changed into so stunned that I made it a level to do the same ever on account that. site visitors surely flows better positive even as all and sundry provides way. those who're in one of those hurry and does no longer budge an inch surely reason a jam which defeats their objective. also they are better probably to get into an coincidence. So, be courteous and be probability-free. we will all get there quicker and saner.
