I found the whole British opening ceremony stuff at the Beijing olympics, really, really bad. I mean the whole london bus stuff, i mean what was that supposed to be? I mean do people really go, i can't wait to get to London, so i can ride on the bus? i don't think so. I mean are'nt your worst experiences of London on the bus? What's so great about the bus? i just came off it the other day, hardly impressive. And then David Beckham who does'nt even live here anymore, kicking a ball, wow, NOT! and then rock musicains who are old enough to be your grandad. And the fact that it followed quite an impreessive Beijing ceremony, it was just well terrible! would you not agree? If the Olympics itself turns out like that, then i won't be proud to be British, i'd be rather embarressed!

Doesn't anyone else think it was a bit too soon for our main emblem to be a London bus exploding? Who thought that was tasteful!? I'm surprised they didn't follow it up with a tube train coming out into the arena and getting blown to bits...

And as for some nobody ruining a legendary rock song - it was disgraceful

I hope to god it's not going to be like that in 2012. We need to stop thinking of the London Cab and London Bus as an icon for Britain, because it isn't.

If they want to keep the motoring theme they need some Aston Martins smoking around the stadium. We need to spruce everything up and modernise, modern Britain if you know what I mean. People's idea of modern Britain is still far too old fashioned.

Yes, i agree & that song that leona lewis sang was complete rubbish.

It would be impossible for the UK to come up with a ceremony as magnificent as the beijing olympics because the Uk doesn't have as much space, money or culture to produce something like that.

It wasn't really very British anyway, more about London. Britain stretches from Shetland to the Channel islands and has a varied and rich culture. Certainly has more to it than a London bus and a footballer!

The bit they didn't show you was inside the bus, spilt drinks, ipod too loud, sick on the floor, Grumpy bus driver....

They could of shown one of britain's proper talents.

P.S. I opt for a display of British motoring at the 2012 olympic opening ceremony.

I didn’t see it but my dad and brother told me about it. It sounded cra p especially considering how great Beijing’s ceremony was. A lot of people are saying that we just won’t be able to compete with their ceremony, which is out of our league. I’m not sure, I’m still optimist.

The sheer awfullness of it just makes me laugh. Don't take it so seriously. Boris is more clever than people give him credit for. I'm sure it'll turn out alright.

No I found it quite good actually. What would you have rather seen ? Chavs fighting on a saturday night pub stage? Unmarried Mothers marching whilst pushing their prams? come on

Boris Johnson should have done the whole thing.
