on every new housing development a certain amount have to be council houses!
i payed way over the odds to live in my area as it is a nice new development but these people get council houses in the same area for about £350 per month, why?!
they are all always hanging around, drinking beer, sitting in their front gardens, their kids are out day and night causing trouble and most of them dont have jobs because they are always around, i just dont see what incentive they have to better themselves, and if they live off the state they should be grateful for whatever they are given

oh poor little you upset because mummy stopped your pocket money. i worked damn hard too. I have a first class education. i don't leech off anyone. i pay my way. why should i pay for a mortgage on a shoe box when i can rent my comfortable house and enjoy life while i still can. i am disabled so i want to spend my money on whatever i chose to before my quality of life diminishes completely. i will not let an ill-informed idiot like yourself drag me down.

I am sure you use services that others hard earned tax money pays for (some may be tax money council tenants pay). If you use the NHS, or send your kids to a state school, that is tax money as well. So maybe you should just get over it already. This is like the 3rd question regarding council tenants that you have posted. It seems to me you have some deep seated issues that you might just consider getting some professional help for.

And by the way, what would you like to see happen? Ghetto's erected in inner city areas, and throw all the underprivileged people in there, or would you just like council housing scrapped all together, and those people chucked out onto the streets, including their kids? Instead of harping on and on, why don't you tell us your well thought out alternative?

As a qualified nurse I was well paid and lived in Private rental. I then fell ill, lost my dignity, income and eventually was forced to become bankrupt, and lost my home!

I have now been ill for nearly 6 years, I have been in temporary housing for the last 3 years.

I am desperately trying to stay in my home town because of my support network and so as not to disrupt my daughter too much. But, because council houses have been sold off there are very few available in this area, and the new ones built have been one bedded!

I would luv to be able to work and support my family but, I can't. I hate living like this!

So, if houses in new developments mean I can have a permanant home then yes, I am all for it!!.....Not all council tenants are 'low lifes', in fact in this district the undesirables are in the minority!

We all have to have a place in this world, and it's better to live and let live!

If you think you have had a hard time 'finding' your house, take a sec to think of those who do not have that luxary. Even when I was working I had to pay £655 per month rent to keep a roof over our heads I also did this as a single parent (my partner left us) whilst going to university and working to become a nurse! I now have my housing found for me.... so I'm sorry to vent but you are hardly hard done by! Your just lucky that life has so far been kind to you, for others it is not that easy!!!

I really get fed up with people generalising.

Not everyone who lives in a council house is anti social. I lived in council flats until I was 12. I'm not anti-social. We never hanged around drinking beer (well my mum didn't) We went out during the day yeah, everyone complains that children stay in all the time. NOW you're saying they should be locked up? I never caused trouble, we had fun, we may have had play fights, but that was all.

My mum struggled to keep a job to help raise me. And she was grateful for everything she was given.

Remember not everyone has money, and young people need a place to start off. House prices aren't exactly low just now.

I live in a council house...i also have a degree in housing, therefore, i find myself very well qualified to answer this question.

It is a combination of people like you and the Right to Buy policy that have created the residualisation that we have today on social housing estates and the segregation of society. In other european countries, the housing is not divided in this way and there is no stigma attached to rented accommodation like there is in the UK.

I rent a council property because i don't want to be a home owner and that is my choice. It does not mean that i sit around drinking beer all day and causing trouble - i work hard to ensure that my tenants have quality housing conditions!

People in this country need to stop being so narrow minded. Maybe if someone is around all day it is because they have so much money they don't need to work!!! There are many reasons why someone might not work, don't always assume that they are living off the state.

Also, i meet people everyday that do live off the state but don't want to, and are trapped in a no win situation of the governments policy makers' making!!!

Finally, i would like to point out that the Section 106 agreements (which is the law that you are referring to) does not give houses to the council. It could be enforced in a variety of ways including improvement of the surrounding infrastructure, a fixed sum to be paid to the Local Authority to allocate to affordable housing on another site, or the provision on site of affordable housing. The houses are sold at a lower rate, usually to housing associations, to be used to provide affordable housing. This could be shared ownership, to give people a chance to own a home in an ever unaffordable housing market.

Everybody has to start somewhere and if people weren't buying 2nd properties to rent out instead of getting a pension, we wouldn't have the inflated house prices that we have at present which is the main reason for this legislation in the first place!

BEWARE: If there is another interest rate hike and house price crash like in the early 90's, it is people just like you that will be glad of the provision of affordable housing!!

Why do you equate council housing with anti social behaviour from every resident. I for one dont drink, Im too busy in my well paid job to sit in the garden all day. I dont live off the state. I must admit I did live off your taxes for a while whilst I was at University getting my honours degree.

Dont you think that living amongst such gracious, tolerant, and wise people as yourself would inspire them to change to be just like you?

Go to YouTube, and type in the search box the first thing that comes into your head. There's also iSketch and AddictingGames. Or google something random.
