Question:
Whatever happend to integrity, character and morality? It seems to have disappeared.?

From having kids out of wedlock
to cheating on your spouse or girlfriend.

Kids engaging in behaviors that only adults
should be engaging in

Glorifying those people who should be embarassed for their actions.

Those in trust saying one thing then doing another

The arrogance of people in power not doing what the people who elected them want

So I ask what happend and or who is to blame for the lack of morality, character and integrity?

Christians are still just imperfect humans, but if you are looking for integrity, character and morality, I would tend to think you will find it in our Father/Mother GOD. and those who follow our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are nothing without Him!

Nicole J., before I answer your intriguing question, may I say that the majority of people who use this site also conform to the new morality.

Not everyone, but the majority.

We live in an era where nobody is accountable for anything.

Politicians promise so much, and can't deliver.

People in power are obscured by so much wealth, and yet that wealth is not in hard cash, but mostly from stock options and unwarranted bonuses.

The vast majority, many of which are in Yahoo Answers or about to join, are desiring something like a better paying job, or trusting relationships.

What we have is a privledged few reaping all the benefits of a capitalist society now running strong, and so many wanting purpose and fulfilment to their lives through decent jobs and security.

So, they vent their arrogance here, and many can't even write understandably.

Welcome to the new millennium and the new morality.

What you are saying is very true. If we think back to biblical times most of these incidents didn't happen as often. I think it all comes back to how a child was raised. If the foundation at home is not good, then a person is more likely to turn out wild. I also think the lack of fear in someone when they are about to do something wrong these days has been cut dramatically. For example, a while ago if couples cheated on each other there was serious consequences that involved physical punishment, and now the law prohibits it. Overall I think you are absolutely right and the greatest disappointment for me is one's morality and beliefs.

Well when it comes down to it I would blame the media.

It is the job of the news and media to make things interesting by highlighting the abnormal. Now the problem with that is that it has normalized what used to be and should be abnormal.

The upshot of that is it seems to have given people the idea that commiting these morally deviant acts such as early age sex, cheating, kids out of wedlock and other immoral type acts is no big deal anymore.

The only thing you can do is live your life with as few regrets as possible within your moral compass.

It all bothers me too.

The media

Im 13 and i know way too much for my own good!

I see this stuff first class every day i see kids doing drugs and cutting themselves no matter how much i try to help and be the better person it dosnet work out!

I say if you be yourself you will be happy I think im the only person that still plays tag at recess with my friends!

Im going to enjoy life and not worry about things until im older and stuff and I love my charector im bubbly and i make people happy that makes me happy!

I also hate how people become like emo or goth because they want to be different but there really just acting the same way as everyone else by doing that irony huh?

everyone has their own morals, everyone has there own standards. some people would say your expectations of people are a little high, you may say that their's is too low. it's all about how we were raised. now we all make mistakes and we can't help it were human. i agree with some of the statements you say especially the arrogance of people part, but i do disagree with some of the statements as well going back to how i was raised. my friends family and i all wonder who started the whole lack of morals and integrity but the answer is always the same: it didn't start with just one person or a group it just became us. we didn' t see it coming but it did and there isn't much we can do about it. oh and as for the lack of character that is not true, we all have character we just have a harder time of showing it.

Citizens resting on their laurels , and not staying involved in the civics` process . Complacency ! But the worst is POLITICAL CORRECTNESS and "FEEL GOOD" Liberalism fed by Immoral News`anchors and crooked politicians , swearing to lies` , and creating false reports just to demean someone without the existence of any proof....She is a product of Political Correctness ! She has seen that she is not responsible for her own actions in a PC Society of Socialism . In a Godless Society there are no morals` , no right , and no wrong , just do your own thing , disobey authority , and she fit`s right in ! So in her mind she is as pure as the Politically Correct Society has led her to believe she is !!

Everything old is new again. What goes around comes around. Nothing new under the sun. The cliches are oh so true. Its just that these days, the technology makes it ALL so much more accessible and in our face. And of course to make profit, ANYTHING goes, but this too has always been the case. Yes, its very sad. Peace to you.

see when you ask that question you look for the people that dont have that anymore... so if you ask who has integrity?who is a moral person? then you will start to look and see the good in others maybe not all of them but there are still good people out there! enjoy life and have fun!!!

It went down the tubes along with border control, religion in the classroom and corproal punishment. As for elected officials.... I was never aware that they HAD integrety, character and morality.

It starts from within... and you can't rely on anyone else. Pay it forward and hope that it comes back to you.

Because the liberals say that anything you want to do is your right and you should do it and not worry about who else it effects. TV and music has a lot to do with it too. No controls over what kids watch today, or for the last thirty years.

It has always existed. It has just mushroomed with time because of human nature, and we are all more aware of happenings now because of the drastic improvements in communications. Look back at the time when the railroads were developed in this country. You think there weren't a lot of shady, underhanded things happening? --- As I said, it has always been there, it's just naturally growing with the population..

it's the people media and the people around us in this world they dont care about what their children do (im still a teenager(13) myself but i find people so disgusting) im really annoyed with hearing about frickin britney spears and paris hilton and some lady getting her "precious" jewelry stolen who was a millionare go get some more? sorry but im just so sick of people and annoyed we should be worrying about more important things like ending world hunger, saving the environment, stopping child abuse, finding cures for diseases and so on i think sometimes we worry about stupid things that are of no importance instead of worrying about what really matters (we as in the people of the world) yea like others have said its prolly always been here its sickening but yea i totally understand even though i have tonss to learn about life but good luck and god bless and have a merry christmas♥

Insecurity is epidemic and is the primary cause of people failing to own their actions.

Life moves so fast that people cannot evaluate the consequences of their response to a situation, and then they respond inappropriately, and then they rely on the pace of life to obscure their error in the minds of others rather than correct the understanding created.
2007-12-21 16:08:52 UTC
I agree with yiu 100%! People have lost any moral fiber that use to exist. And if you need proof, turn on the television, see how people drive with such anger. It is a ME generation and that is a shame :(

when have those things ever existed in mass? NEVER! unfortunately now, we have the mass media telling all of us about every indecency and misdeed about everyone. think about it, everyone throughout history has had flaws, but only recently is everything exposed to the population. blame the media.

Ignorance is BLISS

and people are the same as they were 10,000 years ago. the only thing that has changed is technology.

Everything we expose our kids to now days glorifies these poor choices in life. Parents don't want to be bothered with teaching or disciplining their children, and schools and police are prevented from doing it. TV, video games, and Internet are not babysitters.
