Question:
White people, do you feel awkward standing next to black people at history museums that involve slave history?

I'm not racist, but it's very awkward being next to black people at history museums just knowing that practically all white Europeans owned slaves. To me personally, it doesn't bother me because I'm white. I know that the majority of slave owners just owned slaves because it was a cultural thing, everyone was doing it, it was the style. But I can't imagine what black people feel going through the historical museums reading about all that stuff, similar to the native Americans.

And because I'm a white person, standing next to black people who's ancestors my ancestors probably enslaved, it is a bit awkward.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

To be honest out of 10 people maybe 1 or 2 are black that would be interested in a historical museum. The blacks that do are there to educate themselves about history just like any other race would, so you shouldn't feel uncomfortable because they are not ignorant.

Your ignorance of true facts is abysmal. In fact, fewer than 22% of the southern whites owned slaves, but let us not let historical facts interfere with what media matters shoves down your throat.

You really do not care about truth, and that makes you a great troll for those who infest you.

Well I don't think so. I mean I can't be blamed for slavery as I've never owned a slave. I didn't choose to be born white it just turned out that way lol. And look if you go back far enough everybody's relatives did something horrific to somebody else.

I feel awkward by the cultural hegonomy that insists all blacks are victems of all whites, hence all that is black is good, white is bad. this fiction is as offensive to me as would be museums that proclaim the sky is green, grass is blue and 2 + 2 = 5. Slavery was justified only breifly in the US & Europe as being superior to the barbaric state of pagan oppression, cannibalism, and other atrocities of many native african tribes. Slavery existed in Africa, by blacks, thousands of years prior to US/european involvement, and nearly a hundred years after it was outlawed in Europe and the West. It was white colonial powers such as Britan which finally outlawed slavery in Africa, suppressed the brutal african tribal warlords, cannibals, slavers, etc and brought peace, education, civilization, and development and uplifted the condition of blacks in Africa. The leftist CULUTAL HEGONOMY view of whites as evil imperialist oppressors is pure fiction, and marxist class warfare hatespeech propaganda. A more valid, truthful and accurate view of history would hold that whites have done far more to improve the condition of blacks, than blacks have themselves. imho.

Sorry - You have fallen into the typical trap regarding slavery. Most African tribes have slaves as does the eastern countries. We also have slavery in the UK. IT's just all 'hidden' or not thought to be spoken about.

Read you history. North African came on 'raiding parties' in the 17th century to Southern England and took whole villages away, never to return. Is't it interesting that THAT is never mentioned. The slaves in the USA were rounded up and sold by thier own chieftains. Why is THAT never mentioned? We {the English} stopped slavery Read about Wilberforce. The slaves taken to USA were given a better life that living in the African bush, Why is THAT never mentioned?

Actually, very very few whites owned slaves. In fact, only rich people owned slaves. The vast majority of white people never owned anyone. In Europe, very few people ever owned slaves at all. Most white people in the US came to the US as immigrants who were simple farmers and nobody ever in the history of their family ever owned slaves.

In fact, a black person is FAR more likely to have a slave-owning ancestor. Many white slave owners fathered mixed race children and almost NO blacks in the US are pure black.

Also, who sold the blacks into slavery? Oh, black African people did. So, the African immigrant is also very likely to have a slave-selling ancestor.

Hundreds of thousand Union whites died to set them free from slavery. Do black people feel awkward knowing how many people died to free them?

Anyway, you never owned a slave, and nobody alive today ever was a slave, so people need to move on.
